BETA-PRB: Business Desk Catalog Import Errors Occur When You Upgrade to Commerce Server 2002 (308316)

When you upgrade to Commerce Server 2002 from Commerce Server 2000 or an earlier release of Commerce Server 2002, you may receive the following error after you unpack the site and attempt to access catalogs from the unpackaged Business Desk application:

Description: Custom Catalogs are not supported in this version. The functionality of Custom Catalogs has been replaced by Virtual Catalogs.

CAUSE
This error occurs because the Business Desk is outdated and needs to be upgraded.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this problem, upgrade the Business Desk application by unpacking the BlankBizDesk application. To do this:
Add the BlankBizDesk Application- Start the Commerce Server Manager.
- Click to expand Commerce Server Manager, expand Commerce Sites, and then select the Commerce site that you want.
- In the Task Panel, click Add Application.
- Browse to the Blank.pup file.
- In the Select Applications dialog box, select the BlankBizDesk application to unpack.
- In Select IIS Computers Web Sites and Paths, enter the appropriate information.
- In the Unpacking is complete! dialog box, click Finish to close Commerce Server Site Packager.
Add the Business Desk Permissions Resource- Start the Commerce Server Manager.
- Click to expand Commerce Server Manager, expand Commerce Sites, and then select the Commerce site that you want.
- In the Task Panel, click Add Resource.
- Browse to the Blank.pup file.
- In the Select Resources dialog box, select the Business Desk Permissions resource to unpack, and then click Add.
- In the Global Resource Pointers dialog box, and then click Next.
- In the Database Connection Strings dialog box, Site Packager lists the database on which the Business Desk Permissions resource is to be created. If you need to create a new database for your Business Desk Permissions resource, see the documentation for further information.
