Microsoft Mouse: You Cannot Install the Basic PS/2 Mouse (308124)

When you attempt to install a PS/2 mouse, the mouse may not be detected by your computer's operating system.
CAUSE
This behavior occurs if any of the following is true:
- Your computer does not have a PS/2 port.
- You have plugged the mouse into the serial port using a serial port adapter.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this issue, exchange your PS/2 mouse for a serial mouse, and then connect it to the serial port on your computer.
