CreateProcessWithLogonW() Leaks Window Station Handles (307619)

SYMPTOMS

The CreateProcessWithLogonW function leaks one Window Station handle each time that it is run.

You can see this problem by using Windows Task Manager. In the Handles column, the handle count in Services.exe increases by one each time that the function is called.

CAUSE

This behavior is caused by a problem in the Windows 2000 secondary logon logic.

RESOLUTION

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in Windows 2000. This problem was first corrected in Windows 2000 Service Pack 3.
