XCCC: Authenticated Clients Without Mailboxes Receive Conferencing Server "Error #8004D002" Error Message (306729)

SYMPTOMS

When you use the Web Conferencing Scheduler to try to schedule a conference while you are logged on as an authenticated user, you may receive the following error message:
Server Error Date/Time

The Exchange Conferencing Service encountered a server error.
Please try the following:
Contact your system administrator.
Sending the message Error #8004D002: Unable to schedule the specified conference.
Microsoft Exchange 2000
NOTE: Although the conference may still appear to be booked and listed on the list.asp Web page, you may be unable to join or delete the meeting.

CAUSE

This problem can occur if the Microsoft Windows NT account that is used for authentication is mail-enabled (has an e-mail address), but is not mailbox-enabled (does not have an Exchange mailbox).

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem and authenticate with the Exchange Conferencing Service, the user account must have an Exchange mailbox. Users who are mail-enabled (but not mailbox-enabled) must remain anonymous.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, schedule the meeting as an anonymous user.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in Microsoft Exchange 2000 Conferencing Server.
