The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Clip Organizer 2002
This article was previously published under Q305211 WARNING:This information is preliminary and has not been confirmed or tested by Microsoft. Use only with discretion. SYMPTOMS
When you use Microsoft Clip Organizer to search Web Collections for clips, you may be unable to view the thumbnail images of the clips as expected. A generic Windows icon, or another program icon, is displayed in the thumbnail instead of a preview of the image of the clip.
When you right-click a clip, and then click Open Clip In, you may receive the following error message:
Clip Organizer cannot complete the operation.
The application called an interface that was marshaled for a different thread.
Error Code 0x8001010E
CAUSE
This behavior can occur if all of the following conditions are true:
- You use Clip Organizer to search for clips.
-and- - You include Web Collections in your search options.
-and- - The RealNetworks program RealDownload, or another download manager such as NetZip or GetRight version 4.5, is added to your computer.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this issue, remove the download manager from your computer. To do this, follow these steps:
- NOTE: Because there are several versions of Microsoft Windows, the following steps may be different on your computer. If they are, see your product documentation to complete these steps.
- Click Start, point to Settings, click Control Panel, and then double-click Add/Remove Programs.
- In the Currently installed programs list, click the name of the download manager, and then click Change/Remove.
- Click Yes to the Do you really want to uninstall download manager name message.
WORKAROUND
To work around this behavior, use one of the following methods, as appropriate to your situation.
Method 1
Instead of browsing for clips online in the Clip Organizer Web Collections, search for clips on the Web by clicking Clips Online. When you click Clips Online, the Microsoft clip content Web site, Design Gallery Live, automatically opens in your browser window.
To do this, start Clip Organizer, and then click Clips Online. Or, from your Microsoft Office XP program, point to Picture on the Insert menu, and then click Clip Art. In the Insert Clip Art task pane, click Clips Online at the bottom of the pane.
Method 2- Start Clip Organizer.
- Click Collection List to display the Collection List task pane (if it is not already displayed).
- Click to expand the Web Collections folder in the Collection List tree.
- On the View menu, click List.
- In the list of folders under Web Collections, double-click any folder that contains clips to display the clips in the right pane.
- Right-click a clip, and then click Preview/Properties. If the thumbnail is visible in the Preview/Properties dialog box, click Close.
- On the View menu, click Thumbnails.
