HP Jornada with Pocket Internet Explorer for Windows CE Saves Cookies When "Save my password" Is Not Selected (303676)

SYMPTOMS

When you use Microsoft Windows CE with Microsoft Pocket Internet Explorer on a Hewlett Packard Jornada device, Internet Explorer saves cookies even if Save my password is not selected. This problem occurs on any Passport site.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a bug in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.

MORE INFORMATION

This behavior is device specific. It does not occur on the Hewlett Packard Jornada 520.

Steps to Reproduce Behavior

  1. Browse to the following Web site:

    http://spmemserv.msn.pp.test.microsoft.com/default.asp

  2. Sign in with a valid user ID. Do not select Save My Password.
  3. Close the browser.
  4. Browse to the following Web site:

    http://spmemserv.msn.pp.test.microsoft.com/default.asp

  5. Without logging in, verify that the user is signed in.
