Next Track Button on Media Player Is Unavailable (303490)

SYMPTOMS

When you attempt to click the Next Track button on the Microsoft Internet Explorer Media Player, you may see one of the following behaviors:
  • Microsoft Windows 2000

    The Next Track button is unavailable (appears dimmed). When you click the Previous Track button, the Next Track button is available again.
  • Microsoft Windows Millennium Edition (Me)

    The Next Track button is unavailable (dimmed). When you click the Previous Track button, the Next Track button is available again. When you click the Next Track button again, it becomes unavailable again.
  • Microsoft Windows 98 or Windows 98 Second Edition

    The Next Track button is unavailable (dimmed). When you click the Previous Track button, the Next Track button remains unavailable.

    When you attempt to restart Internet Explorer, you may receive the following error message:
    Microsoft Internet Explorer has encountered a problem
    and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.

CAUSE

This issue can occur in the following situation:
  • You play a Radio Station selection in Internet Explorer.

    -and-
  • You repeatedly click the Next Track button on the Internet Explorer Media Player.

WORKAROUND

To work around this issue, quit and restart Internet Explorer.

NOTE: In some cases, you must restart the computer before you restart Internet Explorer.

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
