Error Message When You Start AOL: Ospath Has Caused an Error in User.exe (303358)

SYMPTOMS
After you upgrade to America Online (AOL) version 6.0 and then attempt to start AOL, the screen may turn black. You may receive an error message similar to the following:
Ospath has caused an error in user.exe
CAUSE
This error can occur if you have McAfee anti-virus program installed on your computer.
RESOLUTION
To work around this issue, follow these steps:
- Restart your computer in Safe Mode.
- Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
- Double-click Add/Remove Programs.
- In the list of installed programs, click your McAfee anti-virus program, and then click Add/Remove.
When the InstallShieldWizard window appears, click Remove. - When the process is complete, close the Control Panel.
- Click Start, and then click Run.
- In the Open box, type Msconfig, and then click OK.
- On the General tab, click Selective startup.
- Click to clear the Load static vxd's check box.
- Restart your computer in Normal mode, and then start AOL version 6.0.
AOL should finish installing at this point. - After the installation is completed, repeat step 8, and then click to select Normal Startup.
After you restart your computer, AOL should function normally.
