No Windows XP Drivers Are Available for Gadget Labs Wave 8 (301320)

SYMPTOMS

After you upgrade your computer with a Gadget Labs Wave 8 device installed to Windows XP, the Gadget Labs Wave 8 device may be listed in Device Manager as a Multimedia Audio Controller. If you view the properties for the device, the device status may display the following problem status:
No drivers are installed for this device. Code 28.
If you attempt to install a Gadget Labs Wave 8 device on a computer that is running Windows XP, you may receive the following error message at the end of the installation process:
Driver Error:
Cannot load the Gadget Wave 824 Audio PCI driver. The driver file may be missing. Try installing the driver again, or contact your system administrator.
After you restart your computer and view the properties for the device, the device status may display the following problem status:
No drivers are installed for this device. Code 28.

CAUSE

This issue can occur because there are no Windows XP-compatible drivers available for the Gadget Labs Wave 8 device. Note that as of July 2001, the manufacturer of this device is no longer in business.

MORE INFORMATION

The installer wizard may recognize the Gadget Labs Wave 8 device as a Gadget Labs Plug and Play Wave 8 and copy all of the manufacturer's files to the System32 folder and System32 driver folder. However, the device still does not function.
