BUG: Exchange SDK: Application Deployment Wizard Exits Without Warning When Deploying Very Large Applications (301051)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server
  • Microsoft Exchange 2000 Enterprise Server

This article was previously published under Q301051

SYMPTOMS

When you use the Application Deployment Wizard to install an application that contains very complex files or a large number of files (for example, more than 5000) to the Exchange store, the progress bar reaches 99% complete and the Application Deployment Wizard disappears from the screen.

CAUSE

As the number of items in an application, the number of properties on each item, and the size of the data for each property increase, the size of Package.xml directly increases. Eventually the computer runs out of memory loading the file and the Application Deployment Wizard exits without warning. The number of files that it takes to cause this failure varies with the complexity of each file.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a bug in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
