OL2000: Contacts Are Not Available in the Send Fax Wizard for Windows 2000 Fax (300831)

When you print to the Microsoft Fax in Microsoft Windows 2000, Microsoft Outlook Contacts are not available in the Send Fax Wizard. The Address Book dialog box displays contacts from the Windows Address Book (WAB) that is used by Microsoft Outlook Express.
CAUSE
The Microsoft Fax Service can be used in an Outlook profile. However, when it is not used with Microsoft Outlook, the Microsoft Fax defaults to the Windows Address Book to address fax messages.
This behavior is by design.
WORKAROUND
To work around this problem, use the following steps to export your Outlook Contacts to a comma-separated values (.csv) file and then import them to the Windows Address Book. This makes your contacts available to the fax when you print to the fax from other programs.
How to Export Contacts to a Comma-Separated Values (.CSV) File- In Outlook, click the File menu, and then click Import and Export.
- In the Import/Export Wizard, click Export to a file, and then click Next.
- In the Export to a file dialog box, click Comma Separated Values (Windows), and then click Next.
- When you receive the select a folder to export from prompt, click the Contacts folder, and then click Next.
- When you receive the save exported file as prompt , click the Browse button, and place the file in the folder of your choice, and then type a name for the file.
- Click OK, and then click Next.
- Verify that the The following actions will be performed check box is selected, and then click Finish.
How to Import the .CSV File to the Windows Address Book- Click Start, point to Programs, point to Accessories, and then click Address Book
- On the File menu, click Import, and then click Other Address Book.
- Click Text File (Comma Separated Values), and then click Import.
- Click Browse.
- Locate and click the file that you exported from Outlook, and then click Open.
- Click Next, and then click Finish to start the import process.
- Click OK when the import process if finished, and then click Close to close the wizard.
