SYMPTOMS

MSXML 3.0 clients do not connect when digits are the leading characters in the property tags.

CAUSE

The MSXML 3.0 specification does not permit leading numbers in tags. Earlier version clients are flexible in their adherence to this specification; however, MSXML 3.0 clients adhere to this specification.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, obtain the latest service pack for Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server. For additional information, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server. This problem was first corrected in Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server Service Pack 2.
