Cannot Install Windows Me Upgrade After Replacing Damaged Hard Disk (299896)

After you install a new primary hard disk in your computer, you may be unable to reinstall Windows. Windows Millennium Edition (Me) Setup may be unable to locate an operating system to upgrade and may not proceed.
CAUSE
This issue occurs in the following situation:
- You attempt to reinstall Windows using a Windows Millennium Edition upgrade CD.
-and- - No valid operating system is currently installed on the hard disk.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this issue, insert your Microsoft Windows 95 or Microsoft Windows 98 CD into the CD-ROM drive or DVD-ROM drive, and then direct the Windows Millennium Edition Setup to the drive letter that contains the CD from your previous operating system.
The original Windows operating system CD fulfills the requirements of the Windows Millennium Edition Setup upgrade compliancy check.
