Return Value of the onBeforeDeactivate() Event May Cause HTA Program to Be Unusable (299890)

If there is a return value of TRUE from the onBeforeDeactivate event handler of an edit control, and an attempt to drag text into this edit control is performed, most HTML page content "disappears," rendering the program unusable. This may occur when the problem code in placed in an HTA page (not an HTML page).
RESOLUTION
To resolve this issue, install the hotfix that is listed in the following Microsoft Knowledge Base article:
303868 Roll-Up Hotfix for Internet Explorer Version 5.5
