OL2002: A Web-based Account Is Not Imported from Outlook Express 5 During Setup (299856)

SYMPTOMS

During a first run of Outlook 2002, you receive a prompt to import from Microsoft Outlook Express 5. A functional Web-based e-mail account (for example, a Hotmail account) is the only account that is configured in Outlook Express 5. If you select the option to import, and complete the wizard again, the Web-based e-mail account is missing from Outlook 2002.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, reconfigure your Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP) e-mail account manually.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
