A "Failed to Copy" Error Message Is Displayed When You Attempt to Install the Firewall Client (299790)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Internet Security and Acceleration Server 2000
This article was previously published under Q299790 SYMPTOMS
When you attempt to install the Internet Security and Acceleration (ISA) Server 2000 firewall client, you can receive the following error message:
Failed to copy C:\Mspclnt\Msisaund.ini to C:\Msisaund.ini Internal Error: 0x5
CAUSE
This error can occur if the Microsoft proxy client from Microsoft Proxy Server version 1.0 or version 2.0 is currently installed on the C:\Mspclnt folder and you do not have permission to modify the contents of that folder. The error occurs at the start of the file copy process of Setup. Setup is unable to continue because it cannot write to the target folder.
WORKAROUND
To work around this behavior, use one of the following two methods:
- Remove the previous version of the Microsoft proxy client software before you install the ISA Server firewall client. (This method is recommended.)
- Install the firewall client to a new folder.
STATUSThis behavior is by design.
