MORE INFORMATION

The third-party products that are discussed in this article are manufactured by companies that are independent of Microsoft. Microsoft makes no warranty, implied or otherwise, regarding the performance or reliability of these products.

The Intel SpeedStep v1.1 functionality is now supported natively in Windows XP and is no longer supported in Microsoft Windows 2000. The VxD version was disabled in versions of Windows that were released earlier than Windows 2000. In Windows XP, support for setting the processor's performance level, dependent on the compatibility of the BIOS, is included; therefore, the SpeedStep program is not necessary.
