OL2002: You Receive an Error Message When You Resend Internet E-mail Messages (299696)
The information in this article applies to:
This article was previously published under Q299696 SYMPTOMSIf you try to resend an e-mail message that has all the following conditions
- You sent the original e-mail message with a Post Office Protocol version 3 (POP3), an Internet Message Access Protocol (IMAP), or a Microsoft Hotmail account.
-and- - Outlook 2002 is running on a Microsoft Exchange server that is configured in the e-mail profile.
-and- - The default delivery location is your Exchange server mailbox.
you receive the following error message:
You do not have the permission to send the message on behalf of the specified user.
CAUSEThis problem occurs because the e-mail address of the sending account is listed as the originator of the e-mail message. When you try to resend the e-mail message, the Exchange server checks the e-mail address of the originator of the e-mail message, and it verifies if you have delegated permissions to resend the e-mail message.
If the e-mail address of the originator of the e-mail message is from an Internet account, it does not appear in the Exchange Global Address List. Because this e-mail address does not appear in the Exchange Global Address List, the Exchange server assumes that permissions have not been delegated, and it does not permit the e-mail message to be resent.WORKAROUND
To work around this problem, follow these steps: - Open the e-mail message that you want to resend from the Sent Items folder.
- On the Actions menu, click Resend This Message.
- On the View menu, click From Field.
- Click, and then delete the information that appears in the From box located above the To box in the e-mail message.
- Click Send.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article. MORE INFORMATION
