FIX: Error Training Mining Model That Has Many Input Attributes and Many Rows of Data (299616)

SYMPTOMS

When you train a mining model that has many input attributes and many rows of data, you may receive the following error:
Analysis Server Error: COM (OLE) error '(Microsoft OLE DB Provider for SQL Server) Row handles must all be released before new ones can be obtained.'

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, obtain the latest service pack for the Microsoft SQL Server 2000 (the Analysis Services Components - Sql2kasp1.exe). For additional information, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

WORKAROUND

To work around the problem, reduce the number of input attributes in the mining model, or if possible, reduce the amount of data used to train the model and still obtain accurate predictions.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in SQL Server 2000 Analysis Services version 8.0. This problem was first corrected in the Analysis Services Components of Microsoft SQL Server 2000 Service Pack 1.
