Visio2002: Hyperlinks to Bookmarks or Sub-Address Locations Are Not Exported Correctly by "Save as Web Page" (299175)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Visio 2002 Standard
  • Microsoft Visio 2002 Professional

This article was previously published under Q299175

SYMPTOMS

When you save a Microsoft Visio diagram as a Web page, hyperlinks that specify a bookmark or sub-address on the page may not link to the correct location on the page.

The hyperlink loads the correct address; however, the bookmark or sub-address does not become the focus in a Web browser.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, use either of the following methods, as appropriate.

Method 1: Insert a Space Character in the Hyperlink Base Summary Property

  1. Open the Visio drawing that you want to save as a Web page.
  2. On the File menu, click Properties.

    Click the Summary tab.
  3. In the Hyperlink base box, type a [character] (such as an 'a'), and then click OK.

Note The Hyperlink base setting specifies the path that you want to use for relative hyperlinks (hyperlinks for which the linked file location is relative to the Microsoft Visio drawing). By default, a hyperlink's path is relative to the current document unless you type a different base path in this box. You can type up to 259 characters.

Method 2: Append the Sub-Address to the Address of the Hyperlink

Use this method if you want to use the Hyperlink base summary property to specify a relative path for hyperlinks.
  1. Open the Visio drawing that you want to save as a Web page.
  2. Select the shape that contains a hyperlink with a sub-address.
  3. On the Insert menu, click Hyperlinks.
  4. In the Hyperlinks dialog box, append the sub-address to the end of the Address box (the full path to the file or URL).

    Click OK.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
