Visio2002: The Visio Window Is Blank After You Run the Detect and Repair Command (299160)

SYMPTOMS

When you run the Detect and Repair command to repair your Microsoft Visio installation, after the repair process is complete and Visio updates its directory cache, the Visio program window is blank. Microsoft Visio is displayed in the title bar, but no menu commands or toolbars are displayed in the program window and you cannot use Visio.

CAUSE

This behavior occurs when you click to select the Discard my customized settings and restore default settings check box in the Detect and Repair dialog box.

RESOLUTION

To work around this issue, press ALT+F4 or click X in the upper-right corner of the blank program window to quit Visio, and then restart Visio. When you restart Visio, the Visio program window is restored.

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
