SYMPTOMS

When you attempt to save a Microsoft Visio drawing to the Web, you may receive an error message similar to the following
The file name, directory name or volume label syntax is incorrect.
and you are unable to save or publish the drawing.

RESOLUTION

To work around this issue, save the file on the local hard disk, and then use Windows Explorer to copy it to a Web folder.

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
