Visio2002: Wall Dimensions in Room Shapes Are Displayed Upside Down When Shapes Are Rotated (299081)

SYMPTOMS

In your Microsoft Visio diagram, when you rotate any of the following room shapes from the Walls, Shell and Structure stencil

Room shape
"L" Room shape
"T" Room shape

some of the wall dimensions, which appear along each wall in the shape, are displayed upside-down.

CAUSE

This behavior occurs if any of the room shapes listed in the "Symptoms" section of this article are rotated. When you rotate one of these room shapes, you simultaneously rotate the length values of each wall in the shape. You are unable to rotate the value separately from the shape. As a result, some of the dimensions may be displayed upside-down, depending on the orientation of the wall in the shape.

RESOLUTION

To work around this issue, rotate the room shape so that you are able to determine the dimensions of the walls, and then return the shape to its previous position. To do this, follow these steps:

Start Visio, and then open your drawing.
Click the room shape to select it.

Selection handles (green squares) appear around the shape, indicating selection.
Rotate the shape on your drawing page until you are able to determine the length of the walls. To do this, use one of the following methods:
- Press CTRL+R to rotate the shape to the right.
  
  -or-
- Press CTRL+L to rotate the shape to the left.
Press CTRL+R or CTRL+L again as many times as needed to rotate and restore the shape to its original position.

Note that the dimensions on the walls appear only when the room shape is selected. They do not appear when the drawing is printed.
