SYMPTOMS

If you apply a three-dimensional (3-D) style effect to an AutoShape or other object while working in one of the programs listed at the beginning of this article, other attributes of the AutoShape may be changed or missing.

For example:
  • Existing rotated Picture Fill Effects are no longer rotated and will not rotate even when you select Rotate fill effect with shape in Fill Effects.
  • Lines do not appear for any object, unless either 3-D Style #4 (Wireframe Only) is selected, or No Fill is selected as the Color in the Fill section of the Colors and Lines tab of Format AutoShape window.
  • In objects where lines are displayed, such as objects with no fill effect or objects with 3-D Style #4 (Wireframe Only) applied, lines are displayed in the correct color; however, line weight, style, and dash effects are ignored.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.

MORE INFORMATION

When you apply a 3-D style effect to an object, the Line area in the Colors and Lines tab of the Format AutoShape window is turned off. If you want to turn on the Line area, you must select No 3-D in the 3-D Style list (it has an icon of a three-dimensional cube) on the Drawing toolbar.
