ACC2000: Invalid Page Fault When You Start Help (298363)

SYMPTOMS

When you attempt to start Help in Microsoft Access 2000, you may receive the following error message:
This program has performed an illegal operation and will be shut down.

If the problem persists, contact the program vendor.

MSOhelp caused an invalid page fault in module itss.dll at 015f:5d487227.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this behavior, follow these steps:
  1. Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
  2. In Control Panel, double-click Add/Remove Programs.
  3. In the Add/Remove Programs dialog box, click Microsoft Office 2000, and then click Change.
  4. In the Microsoft Office 2000 Maintenance Mode dialog box, click Add or Remove Features.
  5. In the Update Features dialog box, click the Microsoft Access for Windows icon, and then click Not Available. Click Update Now.
  6. Find and rename the following files:
       File to Find      New Name
       -----------------------------
       hh.exe            hh.old
       hhctrl.ocx        hhctrl.old
       itss.dll          itss.old
       itircl.dll        itircl.old
    					
  7. In Control Panel, double-click Add/Remove Programs again.
  8. In the Add/Remove Programs dialog box, click Microsoft Office 2000, and then click Change.
  9. In the Microsoft Office 2000 Maintenance Mode dialog box, click Add or Remove Features.
  10. In the Update Features dialog box, click the Microsoft Access for Windows icon, and then click Run all from My Computer. Click Update Now.
