This article was previously published under Q297745 SYMPTOMS
When you use Windows Media Player to transfer media to portable devices, some files may be truncated.
The most common scenario in which this behavior occurs is when files that are marked as "May Not Fit" are selected to be transferred. Part of the file may be transferred to the device and therefore the song (in the case of an audio file) may be truncated.
CAUSE
The service provider for some portable devices cache files that are selected to transfer because they need to allocate space on the storage medium. When this occurs, the service provider may truncate the file if it is too large to fit.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this behavior, make more space on the portable device, remove the truncated file, and then retransfer it.
WORKAROUND
To work around this behavior, only copy files that can fit in the space on the portable device that is selected. If the truncation is an issue, you can remove the file from the portable device.
STATUSThis behavior is by design.MORE INFORMATION
For more information about the capabilities of the specific portable device, contact the respective manufacturer of the device.
This behavior is commonly seen on the Creative Nomad portable devices and may be changed in future versions.
