You may be unable to start your Toshiba laptop computer after you apply the hotfix that is described in the following Microsoft Knowledge Base article:
279491 Multiple CardBus Devices Cannot Share IRQs
NOTE: This problem only happens with the BIOS implementing DMA mode for INT 13 access to devices.
CAUSE
This problem can be caused by a bug in the Ntdetect.com file.
