XADM: Forestprep Fails with Error 0XC103FC93 (295426)

SYMPTOMS

When you run the Exchange 2000 setup /forestprep command to join an existing Exchange Server 5.5 site, you may receive the following error message:
Setup encountered an error while attempting to bind to the Exchange server "\\servername" 0XC103FC93 (64659); Unable to find object /o=orgname/ou=sitename/cn=configuration/cn=Servers/cn=??servername/cn=Protocols/cn=LDAP

CAUSE

This issue can occur if you type two backslashes (\\) when you type the name of the Exchange Server 5.5 computer.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, when you use the ForestPrep utility, do not type two backslashes (\\) before the name when you are prompted to type the name of the Exchange Server 5.5 computer.
