Unable to Obtain a Lease from SonicWALL DHCP Server on a Windows XP-Based Computer (295319)

SYMPTOMS

On a Windows XP-based computer, you are unable to obtain a lease from a SonicWALL product that has a DHCP server.

CAUSE

This behavior occurs due to an incompatibility issue with the earlier versions of the BIOS of the SonicWALL products. A network trace shows that the DHCP server sending a negative acknowledgment (NACK) in response to the DHCP request.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this behavior, upgrade the firmware on the SonicWALL product to the latest version.

This behavior is by design.
