Visio2002: Component of Converted AutoCAD Drawing Is Lost During Conversion (294072)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Visio 2002 Standard
  • Microsoft Visio 2002 Professional

This article was previously published under Q294072

SYMPTOMS

When you convert an AutoCAD Drawing file (*.dwg;*.dwf) in Microsoft Visio, part of the file may be lost during the conversion.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur if you do the following:
  1. You open an AutoCAD Drawing file (*.dwg;*.dwf).

For example, the drawing may contain an object with a hatch boundary that consists of three lines (which form an open-ended box) and a circle positioned so that it is coincident with the two endpoints of the lines. The object is then trimmed, leaving a fully qualified closed boundary, but one that is not a closed PolyLine.
  2. You convert the drawing (right-click the CAD drawing object, point to CAD Drawing Object, and then click Convert).
  3. During the conversion, you select Delete all DWG layers.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
