Visio2002: Error Message When You Attempt to Insert an IntelliCAD 98 or AutoCADlt (Lite) OLE Object into Visio (294037)

SYMPTOMS

If you attempt to insert an IntelliCAD 98 or an AutoCADlt (Lite) OLE object into Microsoft Visio or another Microsoft Office product, either nothing happens or you receive one of the following error messages
The server application, source file, or item cannot be found. Make sure the application is properly installed, and that it has not been deleted, moved, or renamed.

-or-

Program is waiting for another application to complete an OLE action.

-or-

This file was created with a version of AutoCAD prior to version 2.5. Can not be loaded.
and the Office program or the drawing program may stop responding (hang).

CAUSE

This behavior can occur if you install IntelliCAD 98 after you install Microsoft Visio 2002.

RESOLUTION

To work around this issue, use the Create from file option to insert the IntelliCAD 98 or the AutoCADlt (Lite) OLE object into an Office or Visio file. To do this, follow these steps:
  1. Save the IntelliCAD 98 or AutoCADlt (Lite) drawing, and then quit the drawing program.
  2. Open the file into which you want to insert the drawing.
  3. On the Insert menu, click Object.
  4. Click Create from file, and then click Browse to locate your drawing.
  5. Select your drawing, and then click Open to insert the drawing into your file.
