The information in this article applies to:
This article was previously published under Q293361 Novice: Requires knowledge of the user interface on single-user
computers. This article applies only to a Microsoft Access database (.mdb).
For a Microsoft Access 2000 version of this article,
see
231839. SYMPTOMS If you have versions of Microsoft Access that are earlier
than Access 2002 on the same computer on which you install Microsoft Access
2002, when you create a new database in Access 2002, you may see templates that
are used for creating databases in earlier versions of Access. When you try to
use a database template from an earlier version of Microsoft Access in Access
2002, you receive the following error message: You have
chosen a database template file that is not supported in the current version of
Microsoft Access. CAUSE Database templates from earlier versions of Microsoft
Access are not compatible with, nor can they be used in Microsoft Access 2002.
RESOLUTION Use only Access 2002 database templates in Access 2002. To
create a database by using an Access 2002 database template, follow these
steps:
- Open Microsoft Access 2002.
- In the "New from template" section of the Task pane, click General Templates.
- Click the Databases tab.
- Click the database template that you want to use, and then
click OK to build the database.
MORE INFORMATION The "General Templates" feature is common to all programs
in Microsoft Office XP. Other Microsoft Office XP programs can create documents
by using earlier versions of a document template; however, Microsoft Access
2002 cannot.
