This article was previously published under Q293321

SYMPTOMS

After you configure a Microsoft Metadirectory Services (MMS) Management Agent (MA) to use deltas when it sends updates to the connected directory, imported changes are not applied.

CAUSE

This issue can occur if you selected the Use metadirectory deltas to update Directory Name check box on the Operations tab. To open this tab, click the Operate action of an MA, and then click the Operational Settings tab.

When you click to select the Use Directory Name deltas to update metadirectory check box on the Operations tab, and then click to select the Use metadirectory deltas to update Directory Name check box, the Use Directory Name deltas to update metadirectory check box is disabled. These check boxes are mutually exclusive (the check boxes do not reinforce this fact). If you click to select the Use metadirectory deltas to update Directory Name check box, you are not able to make any updates to the metadirectory, regardless of the mode.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue:
  1. Click the MA
  2. On the Actions menu, click Operate MA.
  3. Click the Operational Settings tab.
  4. Click the Delta Operations tab.
  5. Click to clear the Use metadirectory deltas to update Directory name check box.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.

MORE INFORMATION

The Use metadirectory deltas to update Directory name check box and the Disable metadirectory updates check box control the zcDsImportUsesTransactionStack attribute. If you modify the settings of either check box, the modifications are performed on the other check box. In this case, you are forced to either run deltas to update the connected directory or update the metadirectory.

To enable the Disable metadirectory updates check box:
  1. Click the target MA.
  2. On the Actions menu, click Configure MA.
  3. Click the Metadirectory Relationships tab.
  4. Click the Configuration tab.
  5. Click to select the Disable metadirectory updates check box.
