"HTTP 204 No Content" Page Causes Internet Explorer to Try to Open the Page Continuously (293316)

SYMPTOMS

After you upgrade from Internet Explorer 5.01 to Internet Explorer 5.5 (or 5.5 Service Pack 1), Internet Explorer never finishes opening the page when it receives an "HTTP 204" response.

RESOLUTION

This issue is resolved in Internet Explorer 5.5 Service Pack 2 (SP2). For information about obtaining the latest version of Internet Explorer, visit the following Microsoft Web site:
