WD2001: Fields Appear on Same Line When You Merge Data from Excel Workbook (293280)

When you merge a data document that contains 63 or more fields and you insert the fields, all of the fields from field 63 and greater appear on the same line and cannot be inserted separately.
CAUSE
Word 2001 has a limitation of 63 columns in a table. When data is imported from Excel 2001 to Word 2001, the data is converted into a table.
WORKAROUND
To work around this behavior, do one of the following: - Export the data from Excel in a comma-delimited format.
-or- - Modify the data document to fewer than 63 fields.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
