WD2002: Microsoft Equation or MS Organization Chart Missing When You Insert an Object (290939)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Word 2002

This article was previously published under Q290939
For a Microsoft Word 2000 version of this article, see 224691.

SYMPTOMS

When you click Object on the Insert menu, neither Microsoft Equation nor MS Organization Chart appears on the Create New tab.

CAUSE

Some Object Linking and Embedding (OLE) programs, like Microsoft Equation, do not appear on the Create New tab when the program is set to Install on first use. This may occur if you did an Upgrade Now or Typical install.

MS Organization Chart does not appear on the Create New tab, because it has been incorporated into the Word program as a diagram.

For more information about other diagrams included in Word, click Microsoft Word Help on the Help menu, type add a diagram in the Office Assistant or the Answer Wizard, and then click Search to view the topics returned.

MORE INFORMATION

In Microsoft Word, most features appear on the menus even when the feature is not installed. This function allows you to see that a feature is available but allows the initial installation of Word to be completed more quickly than it would be if all the features were installed during Word Setup.

When you first click such a feature, Word prompts you with a message similar to the following:

This feature is not currently installed. Would you like to install it now?
