SYMPTOMS

When you apply a combination of a border and a fill to any object in Microsoft Publisher, a thin line may be displayed or printed around the outside of the object. This "leaking" is more noticeable when you use the Commercial Printing Tools in Publisher.

CAUSE

The "leaking" behavior is caused by the interaction of Publisher with the Windows system component GDI+.

WORKAROUND

To minimize this behavior, follow these steps:
  1. Click the AutoShape or picture to select it.
  2. On the Format menu, click AutoShape or Picture.
  3. In the Format AutoShape or Format Picture dialog box, click the Colors and Lines tab.
  4. Clear the Draw border inside frame check box.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.
