How to Create a New Profile When You First Start Outlook

When you first start Outlook, a process known as First-run occurs. This process completes the installation, and prepares you to establish the new profile. Use the following steps to create the profile:
  1. After the initial installation is completed, the Create a New Outlook Profile dialog appears.
  2. In the Type a name for the profile box, type a descriptive name for the profile.
  3. In Type the name for the Mail server and mailbox, type a name for the Exchange Server and the mailbox name. If you do not know this information, consult with your network or e-mail administrator.
  4. Verify that the Is this computer always connected to a network option is set to Yes, and then click Test Settings.
  5. Click Create Profile when you receive the prompt that the test was successful.
  6. In the Welcome to Microsoft Outlook dialog box, type your user name, password, and domain, and then click Login.

How to Add Additional Profiles

Use the following steps to create another profile with this installation of Outlook that connects to a different Exchange Server or that can be used by another user:
  1. On the Apple menu, click Control Panels, and then click Outlook Settings.
  2. Click Show Profiles, and then click New.
  3. The Create a New Outlook Profile dialog box appears. Follow the steps that are listed in the previous "How to Create a New Profile When You First Start Outlook" section of this article.

How to Select a Profile to Use When You Start Outlook

If you have configured multiple Outlook profiles, you can configure one profile as the default and configure another profile to prompt you to select a profile when you start Outlook.

Use the following steps to configure the default profile for Outlook:
  1. On the Apple menu, click Control Panels, and then click Outlook Settings.
  2. In the When starting Outlook, use this profile box, click to select the profile that you want to be the default, and then click Close.
Use the following steps to configure the profile to prompt you to select a profile when you start Outlook:
  1. On the Outlook Edit menu, click Preferences.
  2. On the Preferences list, click General.
  3. In When Starting Microsoft Outlook, click Prompt for a profile to be used, and then click OK.NOTE: You can also set the default profile in this section.

How to Delete an Existing Profile

If you have created a profile you no longer use, you can delete the profile from Outlook. This will not delete the mailbox that the profile is connecting to. To do this, perform the following steps:
  1. On the Apple menu, click Control Panels, and then click Outlook Settings.
  2. Click Show Profiles, click to select the profile you wish to remove, and then click Remove.
