"Use Browser Proxy Settings" Option May Not Work for the Windows Media Player 6.4 Web Control (290628)

SYMPTOMS

When you attempt to view streaming video by using the Windows Media Player 6.4 Web control, you may not be able to view the streaming video when you select the option to use the browser proxy settings.

Using the browser proxy settings is an advanced option that you can set if you right-click the Web control window inside of a Web page.

CAUSE

This problem can occur when the browser is required to use an automatic configuration script file to determine which proxy server to connect to. When this problem occurs, Windows Media Player is not correctly polling for the proxy server information.
