SYMPTOMS

When you start a Microsoft Office XP program, a Windows Installer dialog box appears. After the Windows Installer finishes configuring Microsoft Office XP, the User Name dialog box appears, prompting you for your name and your initials.

CAUSE

This behavior occurs when the following conditions are all true:
  • Your computer is running Microsoft Windows NT version 4.0 or Microsoft Windows 2000.
  • You are running an Office XP program for the first time.
  • A different user was logged on to the computer when Office XP was installed.
