OL2002: Error Message Appears When You Save to Drafts Folder Either Online or Offline (290009)

SYMPTOMS

When you are online and you try to save a message in the Drafts folder, you may receive the following error message:
Error: The item could not be saved to this folder. The folder has been deleted or moved, or you do not have permission. Do you want to save a copy of it in the default folder for the item?
When you click Yes to close the error message, you may receive the following error message:
Operation Failed
When you are offline and you try to save a message in the Drafts folder, you may receive the following error message:
Sync error (logged in deleted items), and item you tried to save moved to "Synchronization failures"

CAUSE

This behavior can occur if your mailbox is over its size limit.

WORKAROUND

To work around either issue, archive or delete messages until the size of the mailbox is under the size limit.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
