FP2002: Error Message Attempting to Open a Web on a WebDAV Server (289697)

SYMPTOMS

When you attempt to open a web (by clicking Open Web on the File menu) on a WebDAV server, the following error message appears:

The Web server at "http://servername" does not appear to have the FrontPage server extensions installed.

The Open Web command opens a Web if the Web server is using FrontPage Server Extensions or is a disk-based web.

To work around this problem, use the Open File command rather than the Open Web command. After you open the file, save it to the server.

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
