XADM: Page Checksum Is Not Recalculated After an Offline Defragmentation of the .stm File (288651)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server

This article was previously published under Q288651

SYMPTOMS

If the .stm file has been corrupted manually, when you perform an offline defragmentation procedure, the corruption is not detected (the defragmentation process does not calculate the checksum of the pages); in fact, the checksum of the page is recalculated during the defragmentation procedure. After the checksum of the page has been recalculated, the page contains a valid checksum and the corruption remains undetected (depending on the point of corruption).
