OL2001: Attachments from AOL Users May Not Open (288464)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Outlook 2001 for Mac
This article was previously published under Q288464 SYMPTOMS
When you receive America Online (AOL) messages that contain attachments in Outlook 2001 for Mac, you may not be able to open the attachments.
CAUSE
This behavior occurs because the File and Creator types of the attachment are modified or have been stripped of AOL's proprietary Internet transport and compression scheme for attachments.
MORE INFORMATION
You may be able to open the attachments after you save them to your desktop and edit the file name by adding a compatible file type extension. For example, a Microsoft Word document named "Myresume" (without quotation marks) could be renamed Myresume.doc. This action is dependant on the settings that are available in the File Exchange Control Panel.
