SUMMARY

By default, the Local Settings folder and its subfolders do not roam with your user profile. The Local Settings folder contains temporary files, program data that is not required to roam with your user profile, and non-critical settings and data that is too large to roam effectively. In addition, you cannot redirect the Local Settings by using a Group Policy.

Windows 2000 merges user profiles at the file level, which means that the merged profile contains the superset of files that are in the local and server copies of your user profile. In the case where the same file is in both the local and server copy of the profile, the most recently modified file is used. Therefore, new files and files that you have updated are not deleted or overwritten.
