SYMPTOMS

When you press either one of the Volume hotkeys on any of the keyboards that are listed in the "Applies To" section to adjust the volume of an audio CD, the Alert sound is played at the same volume as the audio compact disc that is playing.

Note This symptom occurs even if you reduce the Alert sound volume in the Sound Control Panel.

CAUSE

This behavior occurs because the Apple Macintosh Operating System Sound Control panel does not allow you to configure different types of sounds to different volume levels.

When you press the Volume hotkeys all sound types are changed to the same volume level.
