SYMPTOMS

When you compose a Hypertext Markup Language (HTML) message and you use Outlook 2002 as your e-mail editor with the Preview Pane enabled, you can drag a Level 1 attachment to your message and retain access to that Level 1 attachment while the Preview Pane is activated.

However, if you close the message and save the changes, the ability to access the Level 1 attachment is now blocked.

WORKAROUND

To work around this behavior, turn off the Preview Pane view when you use Outlook 2002 as your e-mail editor, or close the message that saves the attachment with the message. When you re-open the message, the Level 1 attachment is blocked.
