SYMPTOMS

When you start a command prompt in Windows, or if you use an MS-DOS prompt to copy a file to an LPT port, you may receive one of the following error messages:

Error the Program Encountered an Invalid Page Exception 0028:01c5

-or-

This program has performed an illegal operation and will be terminated. Quit all programs, and then restart your computer.

The program encountered an invalid page exception.

Fault location: 0028:C00982ED
Faulting component: SYMEvent(02) + 00003A41
Interrupts in service: None

CAUSE

This issue can be caused by SYMEvent, which is a component of Symantec Norton System Works, and can be occur if the Norton Symantec System Works installation is damaged, or if you configured the program incorrectly.
