Cannot Access Any of the Printers in the Print Folder After Restarting the Computer (287294)

SYMPTOMS

When you try to print a file after having restarted your computer, you may not be able to see any of the printers in the Printers folder. When you try to use the Add Printer Wizard, the My Computer option is unavailable.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur when the Spooler service is set to start with an account other than the System account.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this behavior, set the Spooler service to start through the System account and to interact with the desktop:
  1. In Control Panel, double-click Services, and then click Spooler.
  2. Click Startup.
  3. Click System Account, and then click to select the Allow Service to Interact with Desktop check box.
  4. Click OK, and then click Close.
