SYMPTOMS

When a service starts, the startup status of the service may remain as "pending." This occurs because the current status of the service is different from the startup status of the service.

RESOLUTION

A supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that this article describes. Apply it only to systems that are experiencing this specific problem.
